Since 1911, Butte Humane Society (BHS) has been a beacon of hope for animals in Butte County, California, and the North State. We're a limited-admission shelter dedicated to providing exceptional care for dogs and cats. Our mission goes beyond a comfortable shelter stay and has evolved to do the best for all animals in our community by assisting open-admission shelters in reducing euthanasia rates and supporting pet owners in keeping their pets with them by offering accessible veterinary care, spay and neuter, a pet food pantry, and education programs designed to inspire the next generation of animal welfare advocates. We believe every animal deserves a chance, and through collaboration and innovative programs, we strive to find loving homes for all.
