In this training, trainees will be introduced to fundamental mechanical concepts including threaded fasteners, basic hand tools such as wrenches, screwdrivers, fittings, pliers and locking devices, mallets and hammers and non-threaded fasteners will be introduced. An introduction to torque wrenches and basic mechanical systems through levers, cams, turnbuckles and pulleys and gears will be offered. A combination of online learning reinforced with hands-on application activities will be used. 

Upon completion of this course trainees will be able to: 

• Understand how threaded fasteners are sized, graded, and fit for applications. 
• Understand basic hand tools, their applications, and types.
• Understand how fittings are sized, graded, and fit applications.
• Identify the parts and proper set up of a torque wrench according to need for fastener size, type, and application. 
• Identify basic mechanical applications using levers, cams, turnbuckles, pulleys, and gears.
