Museum Weekend at monca

We are happy to announce that monca will be participating in the Explore Butte County Museum Weekend this year on Saturday, February 28 and Sunday, March 1, 2026!

Museum Weekend is an annual celebration of cultural spaces in the Butte County region. The event encourages community members to visit new places and try new things. Each participating space will offer special experiences for visitors to make the event extra memorable. 

Pick up a free Museum Weekend Passport at any of the participating locations to track your visits! Once you visit five participating locations and have the visits validated by signatures or stamps from docents, you will unlock deals at businesses throughout Butte County. 

monca will be open during Museum Weekend from 10AM-5PM. The exhibition on view will be the current show, Perch, Flutter, Soar. Visitors at the museum are welcome to participate in a bevy of bird-themed hands-on art projects including: origami art, mini bird sculptures, foil engravings, and a community mural activity. These projects will be kid-friendly!

Admission to the museum will be completely free for all visitors from 10AM-4PM during museum weekend. This is a great opportunity to connect with local art, artists, and consider getting more involved at monca. From 4-5PM monca will charge regular $5 daily admission and as usual, all museum members and students get in for free. 

Thank you Explore Butte County for coordinating this effort, we are excited to invite new and regular monca patrons into the building during this celebration!
